How to use AI

To make your contribution, your MVP, and so we can polish it, you can use AI

AI can be a great help both for programming what you have in mind and for teaching you the fundamentals. That is why in this guide we explain how, now that you already know git, you can use AI to code.

CLIs

Coding AIs are usually run from the terminal; they are like a terminal chatbot. From there they show you the changes they make, can run commands on your PC, and basically do everything. Most of the famous ones require payment, but on our Discord (click here) there is a pinned forum post with the complete list of free coding AIs. The main ones are:

  • OpenCode with Big Pickle (the best)
  • Freebuff
  • Cline

Writing to the AI: tips

AI tends to be vague, and especially the free ones are shoddy. So we recommend including the following when giving orders to your AI:

  • Explain your idea first and ask how it could be implemented
  • Ask it to explain how you can test it, and to verify that its creation works
  • Tell it not to make prototypes or mocks, and to put in the effort
  • Tell it not to use AI Slope design (for websites)
  • If you are coding natively, tell it to use the recommended native stack

AI won’t produce well-made software on the first try, so we also recommend the following:

  • To review and find errors, use OpenCode
  • To implement features, also OpenCode, then use Freebuff and Cline.
